    Research Interests

    1) Structure-based reconstruction of the protein network in response to oxidative stress

    Thanks to the methodologies of structural genomics, we will focus on solving the 3-D structures, mainly by X-ray crystallography, of the key proteins and their complexes in response to the oxidative stress in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This will enable us to remodel the yeast protein network in response to oxidative stress, and provide us some insights into developing new drugs against aging and other oxidative stress-related diseases. 

    2) Structural and functional investigations of silk-related genes and proteins

    Based on our previous work on fibroin gene, and taking advantage of the mass information from silkworm genome project, we will systematically study the silk-related genes and their encoded proteins, to update our knowledge on the molecular mechanism of fine regulations of replication and expression of fibroin gene, and secretion and packing of silk proteins.
